Cookies
What we store in your browser and why. In short: only what is necessary, no ads and no tracking.

What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser to remember something between pages or visits. Browsers also have “local storage”, which works in a similar way. Below is everything we store, in both.
What we use
We only use cookies and local data that are strictly necessary for the features you use. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we load no services from other companies that would set them. The fonts and all the site's files come from our own servers, delivered through Cloudflare's network, which protects the site from attacks. To do so, Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie (see the list).
The full list
- site_lang: cookie, 1 year. Remembers the language you chose.
- pl_consent: cookie, 1 year. Remembers your cookie choice (only necessary, or statistics and marketing as well), so we do not ask you on every page.
- pl-chat: local storage, until deleted. Only if you use the chat: keeps the conversation on this device, so you can continue it on other pages or later.
- pl-chat-teased: local storage, until deleted. Remembers that we have already shown you the chat invitation.
- __cf_bm and cf_clearance: Cloudflare cookies, set only when needed for security: __cf_bm for 30 minutes, cf_clearance after an anti-bot check. They tell real visitors from automated bots and do not track you on other sites.
- pl_session: cookie, 14 days. Only for our team, when they sign in to the admin panel. Visitors never receive it.
Legal basis
These cookies and local data are strictly necessary for features you ask for (the language, the chat), so they do not need your consent. The basis: Art. 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC (ePrivacy), in Germany § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG, and our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your choice
On your first visit you choose between “Only necessary”, “Settings” and “Accept all”. Refusing is as easy as accepting, and the chat, the form and the whole site work the same whatever you choose.
- Necessary: always on, because the site does not work properly without them.
- Statistics: would show, without identifying you, which pages are read. We currently use no statistics tools.
- Marketing: would measure our advertising, for example on Google. We currently use no marketing cookies.
Statistics and marketing only start with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
Controlling them in your browser
You can also delete or block them at any time in your browser settings. The site works without them, but it will no longer remember your language, your cookie choice or your chat conversation.
Changes
If we start using statistics or marketing tools, we will list them here with the provider's name and switch them on only for visitors who have given their consent.
